Description

The Miraculous Medal is a very important Sacramental in the Church, given by Our Blessed Mother herself to Catherine Laboure in France, 1830.

The image shows Our Lady with Here hands out-stretched with rays coming from rings on Her fingers, symbolising the Graces that She has to give but sadly, many people never remember to ask for them.

The prayer around the circumference is a very important one and reminds us to go to our Mother in our times of need but also to show our love for One Who loves us greatly…Oh Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to Thee”.

Our Lady asked that it be worn about the neck.  It was originally called the Immaculate Conception medal, but so many miracles were worked following its distribution, that it became known as the Miraculous Medal and it has retained that name through the past 195 years.

May all who have a love for this Good Mother, be happy to wear it and encourage others to do the same.

***The Legion of Mary have adopted the same image and they do great work throughout the world, these past 103 years since its beginnings.
