Description

A beautiful, bright wooden Missionary Rosary strung on strong Brown cord.

It is a very attractive Rosary with antique gold accents on the centre medal and the Crucifix.

The centre medal is that of Our Lady of Grace on one side and the Sacred Heart of Jesus on the other.   The Crucifix depicts the Holy Trinity.  Both the Medal and the Crucifix are in antique gold, complimenting the Rosary beautifully.

The Mission Rosary, also known as the World Mission Rosary, was created in 1951 by Archbishop Fulton John Sheen.  He was the national director of the Society for the Propagation of the Faith at the time.

How it was created
  • He came up with the idea for the rosary on a radio show, asking his listeners to “Embrace the world in prayer”
  • The rosary was created to strengthen the bonds between the global Catholic Church family
  • The rosary is made up of five colors, each representing a different continent

What it symbolizes

  • The Mission Rosary is made up of five different colours, each representing a different continent:
  • Africa (green), Americas (red), Europe (natural), Oceania (blue), Asia (Yellow).
  • The rosary honors the work of mission and the call to be a missionary
  • The rosary emphasizes world unity and peace
