The Green Scapular is known as “The Badge of the Immaculate Heart”given to a French Nun of the Daughters of Charity of St Vincent de Paul, on September 8, 1840.
It was to a nun of the same Order, that the Miraculous Medal had been given on the 27th November, 10 years previously.
Unlike the Brown Scapular, there is no enrolment necessary. It needs only to be blessed by a Priest. It may be worn around the neck, carried in a pocket, placed under the pillow or hung somewhere in a room. It is primarily for the healing of the sick or the conversion of one who has turned away from God or who does not know God.
The only prayer to be recited is the inscription surrounding the heart on the reverse side on the Scapular, “Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death.”
This should be repeated daily, if not by the one wearing it, by the one giving it.
Like the Brown Scapular and the Miraculous Medal, a great blessing from our Holy Mother, as she endeavours always to help her children.
